Teacher Professional Development/Collaboration
One core value of LUSD is people, not programs that make the real difference. The professionals at LUSD make the real difference; caring and competent classroom teachers, pro-active administrators, a visionary and engaged superintendent, and a supportive Board of Trustees.
With the systemic change with the adoption of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), LUSD provides ongoing professional development and opportunities for collaboration. This year staff has been trained in the newly adopted district wide mathematics program. Furthermore, staff has been given training on devising inquiry based science units with integration of core content areas including literacy and mathematics. Staff has also been provided with training opportunities for technology literacy.
This year the District will execute 9 early release days for professional development and collaboration.
