Academic Support

LUSD has two Academic Coaches who have participated in multiple trainings including literacy, GLAD, Cognitive Coaching, Academic Conversations, and much more. They have been providing staff support with the transition to and implementation of Common Core State Standards by providing staff support in many areas including Close Reading and Webb's Depth of Knowledge.

 

This year the District has also invested in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Coach whose focus has been providing staff with support on devising inquiry based science units.

 

LUSD has also invested in 8 Academic Clinicians who provide intervention to students during the school day and afterschool. They focus on providing students with support in many subjects including reading and mathematics.

 

LUSD also has tutors in numerous classrooms to help provide support to students in need.
