Apps Approval Process
School districts are required to comply with internet and data privacy laws to ensure the protection of student information, protect students from inappropriate content and uphold the integrity of technology use.
LUSD App Approval Process
How do I know if an app or website has already been requested?
Prior to requesting an app or website, please consult the list of approved and non-approved resources (coming soon).
What should I do if the app or website is not currently on the approved and non-approved list?
Staff should create an FMX ticket requesting approval of apps and websites. Requests will be vetted for data privacy compliance and vulnerability risk. Requests should also be alignment with California frameworks, grade level standards and district goals and priorities.
The district reserves the right to deny requests. Please allow up to 2 weeks (or more, depending on the request) for approval.
Why Might Apps or Websites Not Be Approved?
Apps and websites may not be approved for several reasons. Reasons include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Do not meet data privacy standards
- Do not have an active/current data privacy agreement
- Pose a medium to high vulnerability risk
- Are not grade level appropriate or standards/framework aligned
- Are not aligned to district and/or site instructional priorities
- Are not aligned to district and/or site assessment priorities
- Inability to accommodate due to licensing and/or cost
